Custom cell phone pouch
Everybody’s been in this situation at some point, when you see something and get an urge to correct it.
You know, like a button on a somebody’s shirt buttoned wrong. I have that urge probably more often then average people, for many different things and situations.
And now, back to the story.
We have a friend that is trying to be a bully, but actually has a heart of gold and his secret wish is probably to adopt one of the cute Disney characters. So once, when we were drinking coffee in a bar or something like that, everybody took their cell phones out of of their pockets and put them on the table. He never wanted to take it out of the pocket, and when we saw it, we understood why. His cell phone had one of the most worn out phone pouches ever. Look at it:
And that gave me an idea to make him a custom one. So, what kind of pouch to make for a tough guy from the outside and Disney bunny on the inside? A black leather pouch with a big flower of course! First idea was to hang a mini plush animal on the edge of the classic pouch, but after I realized that I have all the materials to make some kind of ethno design thing, the plush animal idea was dropped.
I have traced an original pouch on a piece of paper and translated the measurements on the eco leather.
I drew a flower and cut it out.
After partially gluing the flower pieces, I decided to sew it, but it was deliberately done wobbly, just to get more “hand-made” look.
I also added a red stripe, to add a little diversity.
I really like it how it turned out, since I usually strive to make things with great precision and calculate every step. This was like going back to the kindergarten and playing with cutout materials.
Pouch is now ready to be presented to the new owner. I really hope he won’t strangle me when he sees it or this post for that matter.
