Radio antenna
Whenever I design something, I always like to make some kind of a link, make elements visually connect to each other to get a harmonious look at the end.
I did the same thing when I decided to put CB radio antenna and FM antenna on Capri. CB antenna was a complete product, so my task was to make FM antenna look almost identical to CB.
After some brainstorming I came up with a solution – I used CB antenna mount which I joined to a classic radio antenna with a classic adapter. But antenna mount was not easy to find, it could be ordered only from Germany, but shipping was ridiculously expensive. I entrusted this holy quest to my friend Denis, who was at Germany at that time, and he successfully completed the mission – thanks Denis!
I made the adapter on lathe machine, you can see it above. I could buy similar adapters but I decided to make my own. Except that it’s better and stronger, it also follows the design of antenna and mount.
Adapter is finished… just waiting to be powder coated.
The final product turned out fantastic – very similar, yet slightly different…
After all, they have a different purpose.
Both antennas finished and ready for installation.
