Trash’n’Burn festival 2018
Trash’n’burn – 10th edition! Last year there was a rumor that the festival has come to an end, but luckily for us, it was just a rumor We really hope that the tradition will continue.
This was our view from the camp. Don’t get fooled by this sunny image above, the weather is always moody at Trash’n’burn, it’s basically a trademark.
We arrived just after the rain has stopped, but our hillbilly neighbors were already there, with their tents installed. In the meantime, one of them has found a girlfriend, and they didn’t brought a tent, but a family house, with a foyer, central heating and a king size bed. Just look at it.
Vedran channeling Dr. Doolitle.
Polyboy barber shop got a better location this year, they put him inside, avoiding the potential weather cataclysmic issues. This year, el boss wasn’t there, so he sent his side-kick Saša, who did a very good job. Marko was just watching us all from the billboard aside. First things first – I’m having coffee, Vedran is getting a hairdo.
No need for an introduction
Picnic is not a picnic without a grill. Also, you can see Dorotea in the background, drinking Vedran’s toxic cabbage juice. He has this thing with a cabbage juice.
Cars, cars, cars…
Hipbone Slim, one man band working his magic. Vedran swears he heard him before, I could not recall it, but he was great.
Hillbilly family.
Polyboy barber shop.
Billy and the Kids. We didn’t make it till the end of the concert, because it got quite cold outside, so we went to see what’s going on in the restaurant. Josip was thinking about getting a haircut, but he wasn’t sure, one thing led to another and he was sitting in a barber’s chair in no time.
Since the brewery business has failed, these young entrepreneurs started a new one. Hope Marko won’t mind we occupied his shop just for fun
Dorotea actually knew how to use a shaving machine, so she did a very good job as an apprentice.
And Saša made a finishing touch. Three people working on one haircut, which was basically just a shaving – this kind of treatment you can get only at Trash’n’burn.
Waiting for the burlesque show.
DJ Wild Evel.
A trademark photo.
The morning after the festival – an empty ranch and muddy waters.
Our Casanova decided that he had enough and he was good to go. In fact, he had to go to the wedding, so we were glad we captured at least one heart-frame photo with him.
#13
On Saturday, people finally started arriving, and the place was getting crowded.
Burnout leftovers.
Organizers and two kids
A poster for Hand Loose rockabilly festival – Vedran noticed that he wears the exact same outfit as on the poster photo. I’ll just call it a fashion fail.
The burnout. I like it just for the effects.
A red Capri. Although it was an American car meeting show, this one did make it inside Certain people were very happy about this fact, as you can see.
No time to explain, he got to examine the whole thing, just to conclude that it’s, quoting, “just a Capri” 😀
A spontaneous meeting and an exchange of knowledge.
Pete and the Shine Brights, a rockabilly band from Italy. I really liked their honky tonk sound of the early 50’s. I was hoping that the bends will start earlier, so I could have a few good sunny shots, but I think there was also much less light on the stage than last year.
Josip bought a CD, so we already knew what will be playing in the car while driving home.
You could also get a tattoo there, we asked Josip, but he decided that he had enough excitement with the haircut already.
Nice traditional designs.
The tri-Gantics, an Austrian band.
What do you do when you have a coupon for just a third of the beer?
You actually exchange it for one third of the beer, and immediately become a bar idol.
After party was a blast as you can see – we were all just too tired, the bands and the DJ were supposed to play till 5 am or something like that, and we just said no.
Hipbone Slim entertaining once again.
Miss Kate de Vienne.
Teta Greta and the crew 💗
Goodbye Trashmobil!
An image of an empty field before we finally packed our bags.
But – this time we didn’t go straight home – we made a turn to Lepoglava, to see the prison for some reason.
We also made another turn to Castle Trakošćan . In fact, we didn’t go in the castle, but took a short tour around the lake.
Let me introduce you Dragutin Jamnić from Lepoglava, who makes this beautiful creatures out of wood.
None of this wood is painted, these dark wooden figures you see are made from a fossil tree.
A fossil walnut tree hedgehog and a pear tree mushroom are now part of my new design office. Cheers!
