Movie Night

When you see Roger Corman’s name on the front cover of DVD, you kinda know what to expect.
You can expect the unexpected or expect totally expected. In any case, you totally don’t know what to expect and yet you know. Better you don’t wrap your mind around that because you could go crazy.

The movie begins with totally unnecessary space fight recycled footage from some other Corman’s movie that doesn’t have anything to do with the rest of the movie, except it lengthens it a few minutes. Anyway, the captain of the winning ship is in fact a space marshal that is called to the remote research facility to investigate something-something.
After the arrival, he’s welcomed by supermodel like, half naked scientist who has sex with him after few minutes. Why? Because Roger Corman is the B-movie king, that’s why. After some time, we realize it’s an Alien / Thing rip-off movie, which is strange since Thing was released a few days later.

The plot summary is that they have experimented with genetics, the monster was born and it is killing everybody and it is evil. Off topic, but not less important – nudity scenes of fully naked scientist women taking sonic shower were not shortened. Probably in every second episode of Star Trek they’re going to the sonic shower, but never show how these things really work, so here we finally get a better insight into this kind of technology. In this movie they don’t just say: “We’re going to the sonic shower”, no – there’s a jump cut without notice, and there they are, naked, sonically showering together.

So, they are little naked, little running from the monster. Little shooting at the monster. Then naked again – really simple movie. With that said, I have to mention that the movie effects are really nice, specially for a B-movie. They built whole sets for the space ships and the research laboratory, together with the planet surface, where they’re looking for monster. And most of all, it’s another old school SF movie without bad computer graphics.  It is totally silly, so fun is guaranteed.
