Red engine table

Here’s something similar to what you have already seen, yet completely different. I decided to make a custom table out of a destroyed V4 block that was laying around in my workshop. It was made as a present for a workshop that basically taught me to how to weld, but also made me a lot of favors.

So, you can see how I have gone all mad with the color. Vibrant red with some more red on top. This was a fun project, but also an experiment, to see if I can step out of my color comfort zone. Obviously, I can! :)

I would usually use the glass or a massive wood for the desktop, but this time I decided to use laminated chipboard.

I didn’t want to make custom wheels and create custom stands, so I tried another approach. I wanted to lift the table and create an optical volume, so the table doesn’t look like a goat.

For that reason I used a bunch of bolts for legs, and now it looks like a caterpillar. Not sure is it an improvement over the goat, but that was my decision, and Goga approved it.

This color!
Btw. Did you notice the Capri window guide frame in the background?

The top plate is screwed to the massive bolts, so it won’t topple.

I used the original sump threads for mounting the legs, however, they needed to be cleaned with the thread cutter because I haven’t protected them prior to the powder-coating.

A few details.

A detail of the board.
